Privacy Policy
Draft. This text is a draft and is not legal advice. It must be reviewed by a qualified lawyer before it is published. Highlighted items are placeholders.
The short version
- Rondeo has no accounts. Your players, events, scores and seasons are stored on your phone, not on our servers.
- We receive crash reports so we can fix bugs. They never contain player names, scores or anything you type.
- We receive anonymous usage statistics only if you say yes. You can change your mind at any time in Settings.
- If you buy Season Pro, Apple or Google take the payment and RevenueCat confirms your purchase. We never see your card details.
- No ads, no advertising ids, no selling or sharing your data for advertising.
1. Who we are
Rondeo is an app for organizing padel Americano and Mexicano events and season leaderboards, available for iOS and Android, with a website at rondeoapp.com. The app and website are provided by Anton Yatsenko, an individual based in Ukraine, Zamarstynivska St. 76a, Lviv 79019, Ukraine ("Rondeo", "we", "us"). We are the controller of the personal data described in this policy, except where we say otherwise.
Questions about privacy: hello@rondeoapp.com.
2. Data that stays on your device
Rondeo works offline and has no user accounts. Everything you create in the app is stored in the app's private storage on your phone and is not sent to us:
- player names and aliases, rosters and groups;
- events, schedules, scores, standings, seasons and templates;
- your settings, and for Season Pro users, a group name, logo and accent color used on share images.
Automatic backups. The app keeps its last 10 automatic backup files in the same private storage. Your phone's own backup system may also copy this storage to your Apple iCloud or Google account (iCloud device backup, Android Auto Backup), depending on your phone settings. Those backups are handled by Apple or Google under your agreement with them, and we cannot access them.
Contacts. If you import players from your contacts, the app reads only the contacts you pick, copies their names into the app, and keeps them on your device. Contact details are never sent to us.
Files and images you share. When you share a share image, a .padel file, a backup or a diagnostics file, it goes through your phone's share sheet to the app and people you choose (for example a WhatsApp group). Share images can include player names and scores. We do not receive these files unless you send them to us, for example when asking for support.
Other people's names. As an organizer you may enter the names of the people you play with. That information stays on your device and in the files you choose to share. Please only add and share what your players are comfortable with.
Notifications. If you allow notifications, the app uses them locally to alert you when a round timer ends. No notification data is sent to us.
Deleting the app deletes this data from your phone, apart from any backup copies kept by your phone's backup system or files you have shared.
3. Crash reports
The app uses Firebase Crashlytics, a service of Google, to report crashes and errors. It is on by default.
What is sent
- technical details of the crash or error (stack trace, error type);
- device model, operating system version, app version, language, and free memory and disk space;
- a random Crashlytics installation identifier, which is not linked to your name, email or phone number;
- app state at the time of the crash: the screen, the event's status and format, player and court counts, round number, scheduler version and whether you use Free or Season Pro;
- a short log of recent actions in the app, recorded with random ids (for example "started round 3 of event e_7Q…").
Crash reports never contain player, group or season names, scores, contacts or any text you type.
Why and on what basis
We use crash reports only to find and fix bugs and keep the app stable during events. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in providing a reliable app (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). You can object at any time by contacting us at hello@rondeoapp.com.
4. Usage statistics (only with your consent)
The app can send anonymous usage statistics through Firebase Analytics (Google Analytics for Firebase). It is off until you agree. The app asks once, on the last onboarding screen, and you can turn it on or off at any time in Settings → Privacy → Share anonymous usage. Before you agree, nothing is collected or queued.
What is sent if you agree
- actions in the app, such as "event created", "round completed" or "paywall viewed", with settings like format, player count, court count and match length;
- random ids for events, seasons and templates, so that steps of one event can be counted together;
- the Firebase app instance id (a random identifier for this installation), device model, operating system, app version, language and approximate country or region. Google derives the region from your IP address and does not store the IP address in Analytics.
Usage statistics never contain player, group or season names, scores, contacts, any text you type, or advertising identifiers (IDFA or Android advertising id). We do not use Google signals, ads personalization or advertising features, and the app does not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
Why and on what basis
We use the statistics to understand which features people use and where the app is confusing, so we can improve it. Our legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and the ePrivacy rules on storing information on your device).
Withdrawing consent
Turn the setting off in Settings. The app stops sending statistics and resets its app instance id, so future data, if you turn it back on, is not linked to past data. Withdrawing does not affect the lawfulness of what was collected before.
5. Purchases and Season Pro
Season Pro is sold through the Apple App Store and Google Play. Apple or Google process your payment, and their own privacy policies apply to it. We never receive your card or bank details, name or email from the store.
We use RevenueCat to check whether Season Pro is active on your device and to restore purchases. RevenueCat receives:
- a random app user id created by the app (not your name or email);
- purchase details from the store: product, price, currency, country or storefront, purchase and renewal dates, trial status, and the store's transaction identifiers and receipts;
- basic device and app information (platform, operating system and app version).
Our legal basis is performing our contract with you (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) and complying with tax and accounting duties (Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR).
6. Our website
- Waitlist. If you join the waitlist, we store your email address and preferred language to tell you when Rondeo launches. Legal basis: your consent. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
- Contact form. If you write to us, we receive your name, email address and message and use them to reply. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in answering you, or steps before a contract.
- Server logs. Our hosting provider, [HOSTING PROVIDER], processes your IP address and browser details to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. Legal basis: legitimate interest.
The website does not use advertising or analytics cookies. [CONFIRM BEFORE LAUNCH]
7. Service providers and transfers
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with anyone for advertising. We use these providers, who process data on our behalf under data processing terms:
| Provider | Purpose | Data |
|---|---|---|
| Google LLC / Google Ireland Ltd (Firebase Crashlytics) | Crash reports | Section 3 |
| Google LLC / Google Ireland Ltd (Firebase Analytics) | Usage statistics, only with consent | Section 4 |
| RevenueCat, Inc. | Purchase validation and restore | Section 5 |
| Apple Inc., Google LLC | App distribution and payment (as independent controllers) | Store and payment data |
| [HOSTING PROVIDER], [EMAIL PROVIDER] | Website, waitlist and contact form | Section 6 |
Some of these providers are based in the United States or process data there. Where personal data from the European Economic Area, the UK or Switzerland is transferred to a country without an adequacy decision, we rely on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework where the provider is certified, or on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses. You can ask us for a copy of the safeguards.
We may also disclose data if the law requires it, or to a successor if Rondeo is sold or transferred, in which case this policy continues to apply.
8. How long we keep data
| Data | Kept for |
|---|---|
| Your app data and automatic backups | On your device until you delete it or the app |
| Crash reports | 90 days (Crashlytics standard retention) |
| Usage statistics at user and event level | 2 months, after which only aggregated reports remain |
| Purchase records | As long as your purchase is active, then as long as tax and accounting law requires |
| Waitlist email | Until launch plus [N] months, or until you unsubscribe |
| Contact messages | [N] months after the conversation ends |
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, and in particular under the GDPR, you have the right to access your personal data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to its use, receive it in a portable format, and withdraw consent at any time. You can also complain to a data protection authority, for example where you live or work. In Spain this is the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos (aepd.es); in Ukraine, the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights.
Because Rondeo has no accounts, we usually cannot link crash reports or statistics to you. Most of your data is on your device, where you control it directly. To make a request, email hello@rondeoapp.com. For purchase data, include the store order or transaction id so we can find it.
10. Children
Rondeo is made for adults who organize padel events and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. Organizers who enter the names of young players should do so with the consent of a parent or guardian. If you think a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Security
Data in the app is stored in the app's private storage, protected by your phone's operating system. Data sent to our providers travels over encrypted connections. No system is perfectly secure, so please also protect your phone with a passcode.
12. Notice for US residents
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, as those terms are defined under California and other US state privacy laws. The categories of data we collect, their sources, purposes and recipients are described in sections 3 to 7. You may request access to or deletion of your personal information by emailing hello@rondeoapp.com, and we will not discriminate against you for doing so.
13. Changes to this policy
We will update this policy when the app changes, for example before launching online features such as live result links. We will change the date at the top and, for significant changes, tell you in the app. If a change needs your consent, the app will ask again.
